Tasmin Little wins Critics’ Award

Violinist Tasmin Little has won the Critics’ Award at the Classic BRITs 2011 for her much acclaimed recording of Elgar’s Violin Concerto, released last year on Chandos.

The award is judged by some of the top music industry experts, including the host of Classic FM’s New CD Show, David Mellor.

It was presented to a delighted Tasmin by the cellist Julian Lloyd Webber at the star-studded Classic BRITs ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall. She thanked the judges, saying: “Every musician in the hall wouldn’t be here if it were not for the opportunities we were given as young musicians.”

Aside from the release of her Elgar Violin Concerto album, in the last year Tasmin has continued her hard work championing music for young people, becoming an ambassador for youth music programmes as well as holding workshops across the country. She has also continued to champion seldom-performed repertoire and has toured extensively.
